Both salaried persons are subject to professional tax, which is levied by the state government. Both practising practitioners, such as chartered accountants, judges, and physicians, are subject to professional tax. It is assessed depending on a person’s occupation, commerce, or specialty. Applicability of Professional Taxation 

In India, a professional tax is levied on all forms of trades and occupations. Any employee of a private company operating in India is required to pay it. Professional tax registration is the duty of a company owner, who is also responsible for professional tax deduction and reimbursement. 

State-by-State Professional Tax Variation 

Professional tax fees are often subject to varying taxes, which vary from state to state. West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Gujarat are among the states that charge a state tax.

Any employee who earns a daily monthly salary must pay the professional fee. The term “technical” refers to people who work in specialist fields such as accounting, television, and so on. 

They will first fill out the form to get a registration number. They will then use the number to pay their taxes in the appropriate banks. 

In certain Indian states, such as Maharashtra, the Profession Tax Act was amended on 1.4.2018, and now a Limited Liability Partnership and each of its partners is liable to pay PT of Rs. 2,500/- every year.
