A 10-digit unique importer export code is needed for every business owner of importation and export in India. The code is published by the Department of Commerce and does not require submission or renewal of the Foreign Trade Directorate General (DGFT). The IEC must clear its customs and shipments and pass funds to foreign banks through importers. Exporters require IEC to send shipments to foreign banks and to receive capital. Briefly, no importer/exporter in India can do business without the IEC.
The registration of the IEC allows traders access the global market, including registration with e-companies.
Companies may use government schemes such as Indian Export Merchandise Scheme (MEIS) and Indian Customs and Export Promotion (SEIS) and other services.
No post-registration and therefore retention criteria are comparatively simple.
The IEC process can be accessed through limited, simple documentation and is not a tedious process.
Import Export Code Registration Necessary documents
The required documents are relatively unregistered for Iec. Only a few documents that are mentioned below for a better range are needed.
